Have you ever wanted to eat breakfast and dessert simultaneously? Well, there are numerous dessert-like options for breakfast, but unfortunately there are not many breakfast-themed choices for dessert. Until now! I recently visited a charming ice cream shop in Salt Lake City, Utah called Spilled Milk. Spilled Milk takes all the deliciousness and nostalgia of breakfast cereals and incorporates them into delectable ice cream cones and shakes.
About Spilled Milk
Spilled Milk seems to have begun as a food truck creation that became a hit here in Utah. There are several locations, including two food trucks in Draper, Utah and Lehi, Utah. There are also two shops, one in Provo, Utah and another that I visited in Salt Lake City, Utah. Spilled Milk offers several delicious products featuring cereal including ice cream cones, shakes, ice cream sandwiches, and crispy treats. Not only do they make their own ice cream at Spilled Milk, but they make specialty cones and have a vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free option. Spilled Milk also offers catering options.

There were many flavor options that combined classic and unconventional ice creams with quintessential cereals. Some of the options included Saturday Morning (which was a mix of Captain Crunch and Apple Jacks in vanilla ice cream with a matcha cone), Over the Rainbow (Fruity Pebble and Captain Crunch in orange & cream ice cream with Lucky Charms on top) and Nuts for Chocolate (a swirl of Cocoa Pebbles, Heath Bar, and almonds in a coconut cone). One of the special things about Spilled Milk is that you can get any ice cream combination in shake form.
The prices of shakes and ice cream cones ranged from $7-$8 with ice cream sandwiches only being $3.50 not including tax. Lastly, Spilled Milk is open later in the evening than many ice cream shops.
My Experience
Spilled Milk had a very bright and trendy interior. When I visited, it was on the weekend in the evening, but there was not a very long line, which I appreciated. The service was very quick and pleasant. I order the Match Made in Heaven, which was a Butterfinger, Reese’s Puffs and Cookie Crisp swirled ice cream topped with Reese’s Puffs and chocolate syrup with a red velvet cone.

The ice cream cone was very visually appealing, but when a company tries to make its own ice cream or cones, it does not always go very well. For this reason, I was nervous to see whether the cereal and ice cream combo and red velvet cone would have a quality taste. But I was pleasantly surprised that the cereal in the ice cream was perfect together. The cereal provided more flavor and a wonderful crunch. The cone was also delicious and not overly empowering.
I will give Spilled Milk 4.5 out of 5 stars because I not only found it to be a very creative idea but the ice cream was delicious. The store was very well maintained and the service was excellent. I do think that the prices were a bit expensive and consequently, I removed half and star. However, I believe that Spilled Milk is certainly worth the money and the experience of trying cereal in ice cream. The perfect place for an ice cream date or a family outing, if you give Spilled Milk a try, let me know!
